Buying Guide

You're considering buying the boat?
Firstly, thank you for considering Morgan Marine. For 35 years, we have been
marketing new and secondhand boats of all types. Our promise is that
we will
advise you throughout your decision making for you and your family at this important
time.
When to buy?
Entirely up to you...However, it is important to realise that new boats
are only manufactured because a dealer or a customer has put a
deposit on that boat.
Balance payment is made in full prior to the boat leaving the factory.
Therefore, any stock boat available for sale, particularly between February and
July, are at a premium.
We strongly advise, that if you wish to buy a new boat, you should place your order
between August and December for delivery the following Spring - to avoid disappointment.
You will then get the boat specified to your exact requirements. It gives
the manufacturer enough time to source and maufacture the boat, and gives
us time to finalise the boat to your requirements.
For secondhand boats, it's more simple - if you find the boat of your dreams - negotiate a deal that seems fair to you and then to place a deposit (subject
to demonstration). This is your protection for us to prove to you that the
vessel is in full working order at time of purchase.
How to buy?
Normally, a deposit of 10% is required in the marine trade for both new
and secondhand, the balance being payable by cleared funds on the day of collection/delivery/demonstration.
However, you can make alternative arrangements by mutual consent. Morgan
Marine will
always try to be of assistance to you and your family.
Please note that in the case of new boat orders - that once a deposit has been paid
- it is non-refundable: We in turn place your order with the factory and are contracted
to complete the order. The only exception is in the case of a demonstration
- that proves the boat faulty - whereby all monies are refundable. Once the
boat has been accepted and paid for in full, normal warranty rights apply.
Finance?
At Morgan Marine, we have excellent relations with the leading marine finance companies.
We offer a multitude of purchase methods - including our very popular 0% finance
scheme over 10 month repayment (subject to status).
Demonstration
Morgan marine insist that all boats should be demonstrated to your satisfaction
on completion of sale. Therefore, the onus is completely and correctly on
Morgan Marine to prove that the product is fit for purpose and ready for you.
Our committment is to a fair price policy and our experienced boat handling and demonstration
crews, are here to satisfy you and your family on your special day.
Warranty and After sales
New boats traditionally come with one year warranty. Many boat manufacturers
now give five years structural warranty on their hulls. Engine manufacturers
traditionally give two years with some outboard manufacturers up to five years (pease
see your warranty documents). Morgan Marine staff will help you with
the particular warranties applicable to your purchase.
Secondhand boats fall into two categories.
Firstly, brokerage - whereby Morgan Marine are acting as a broker for the owner of the boat, similar to purchasing a house through an estate agent. All secondhand
details will be marked brokerage
where this is applicable. We do advise - that perspective buyers have a structural
and engineering survey to satisfy themselves that the boat is in good overall condition.
Morgan Marine can advise and recommend local surveyors. Strictly, there is
no formal warranty with brokerage.
Secondly, in the case of secondhand boats owned by Morgan Marine - we provide a
3 month engine and drive warranty for labour and parts - covering normal breakdowns.
This commences from the day of collection/delivery.
Please do get to meet our Andy Pearce who is head of our after sales and after care
department. Andy has been with the company since he left school and is highly
respected by the manufacturers as a "very fair and safe pair of hands". Andy
will have on file, all your details after purchase, including key fob numbers- just
in case you drop them overboard!
